This thing that popped into my head in the middle of Algebra

So I was thinking while I was in Algebra class today. Not something I usually do, because usually I'm always struggling to pay attention to this stupid jumble of numbers that no one cares about. I was mind wandering, something I usually do in my other classes, like science class, for example. Or Spanish, DEFINITELY spanish. But so I was looking out the window, and I was imagining it was warm, like HOT like it was the summer again. And so I was pretending the sun was shining and it was the last hour of the day, and we were about to get out and I could grab my stuff super fast and run out into the SUNSHINE. And I couldn't help but smiling. And then all of a sudden I remember that day when I was with my Oma at Hawk Island. It was like someone had just shoved it into my brain and there it was. And I replayed the whole time we were there in my head. I was riding my bike in and out of the shade of the trees on the long path around the lake with my brother. And we're coming back out into a sunny patch and then not paying attention I bumped into the back of my brother's bike tire. And I flew, like I think I literally flew, but not over the handle bars or behind it, no, I flew to the LEFT. I felt like someone had pushed me from the side and threw me into the air, and I rolled over on the concrete and scraped my elbow and landed on my right wrist. I could have SWORN I heard a crack. Ugh, my arm had heart really bad, and I was mad because I wasn't paying attention, and then I was mad because that lady that was sitting on the picnic table not 20 feet from us was watching me roll around and clutching my wrist and groaning while eating her SANDWICH. And I'm like, dude, I know it's not your duty, but you could just yell to me and see if I was ok. I was mad at myself, and then I just kinda got mad at the lady, and then my brother was just sitting on my bike waiting for me to get up. Finally the lady got up and was all are you ok?
Yeah, now.
It was your brother's fault, huh? I saw him swerving in front of you.
Um, no I wasn't really paying attention-
That's ok, you don't have to take the blame, do you need me to walk your bike back?
Um, no thanks, I think I can get it.
And I hopped on my bike and started to pedal very slowly away, because my ankle was hurting really bad, that might have been what cracked. But my right wrist is what hurt the most, and the little weird bone that sticks out on the inside of your wrist was all read, it was where my back had landed. And so I was flexing my wrist testing it out, making sure it wasn't broken, as I rode over the grass weaving in and out of the people sunbathing. So I went and sat back down with my Oma and my brother went to play on the playground. I went to grab my book from the truck, and read with my Oma. We did this for a little while and then I went to get my brother and we went around again on the path. This time I didn't fall. :) When we got back I had my applesauce and cookies, it's really good if you dip the cookies in the applesauce. I know it sounds gross, and my Oma and brother won't try it, but it's delicious. Since I tried it, I can't even eat the cookies without applesauce. After we had the snack we left.
I found out later that the first time we went around and I was weaving through the people that Hannah was with her mom and they were reading in the sun and she said Hi, and I didn't hear her, and then she just didn't get up and come say hi to me the whole time I was there. *scoff* some people.
So I'm thinking of this in Algebra still staring out the window watching the little flurries float down, and I remember the last time I was at Hawk Island in the summer. It was a Cross Country practice in the summer, and we rode to Hawk Island to practice. It was one of the first times that we had the new coach, Coach Thomas, and it was raining. So we're stretching in the wet grass and the coach goes, yeah, we're about to run 3 of these here Hawk Island laps. And in my head, I'm like, dude, it takes me like 10 minutes to ride this with my brother on my bike! And this is only like my 3rd day! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?!?!?!?!?
So everyone started off together in the mist, and course, I fall behind, along with Maddie, we're running together and eventually she starts to walk about halfway through the first lap, but I keep going. Around the beginning of the 2nd lap it starts to rain, harder. Really hard, and finally before I die I start to walk, I've run about 2.5 miles straight and I'm heavily breathing and my legs are on fire and begging for a rest, and my arms are cold and I'm sopping wet. So I start to walk, still fastish, and my hair is dripping wet, and it's flowing down my face and I'm really thirsty and it's all salty and stuff, and it's just kinda miserable. After I catch my breath I figure I might as well start running again because the sooner I get this done the sooner I can rest for real. So I start running, half heartedly, because my legs have cooled down and aren't burning but now their stiff and stuff, so I'm running real slow, and then the coach jumps out from between the trees and stumbles a little bit, and he's yelling "GO HANNAH!" And I look around going whoa, did I catch up with her. NO. I'm the only one around, he got my name wrong, AGAIN. So I just start laughing and run a little bit faster, and a little farther up the path I can't stop laughing because now it's just hilarious, so I start laughing harder in the rain, and I just could not stop, and then I was all out of breath. And then I realized it was raining and I'm wearing my Owl City shirt and when we started doing sprints I got mud all down the back, frustrating. So when we finally finished the long 3 lap thingys we had some pizza! Hoorah for warm pizza! We were all wet and eating pizza and drinking water. Then it was time to go back to school for our parents to pick us up. We rode in the bus that was Grandpa's van, listening to music on our iPod's.

So I was remembering this in Algebra when I remembered, HEY, I SHOULD PROBABLY PAY ATTENTION! So that's what I tried doing for the rest of the hour.
Don't YOU wish it was summer??
Delaney
P.S. I don't know what kind of cookies they are, or what brand of applesauce, I know the cookies have frosting stripes on them, like the Keebler cookies? So yeah, you could try that. :)
