I'm not sure how I feel about the talent show this year. As much as I want to say some of these acts were not my favorite, I have to say that these acts are the ones I will remember the most. Even if Willie Wonka Gone Bad was funny to my mom, I have to say I didn't really appreciate their jockingness. They had this random duck person come out and run around. But I am glad to say that they looked like jockers to the 7th graders and 8th graders. Cuz we did this last year. The first duck song. Which we did again, but we did all 3. In the second one, I went up to ask for grapes, and the people in the audience said it along with me. It was so cool. So then we had the MC that introduced the last one, we asked her to say if you know the words sing along. WHICH LIKE ALL OF THEM DID!! IT WAS GREAT! But you should have heard them scream when we brought the table out for the last one, they yelled and screamed and cheered. There were a coupla boos, but I counted them out and bathed in the spotlight. For about 3 minutes I was oblivious to the audience, but subconciously doing things that would please them, or get laughs. And I smiled when I heard a laugh in the audience. It was so fun!! Everyone did do a good job. Because I told them so whenever they came off the stage. At the end the teachers did the Cupid Shuffle, including Mrs. Taylor, Ms. Robinson, and Ms. Laurens!! It was so funny!
When Mrs. Carnegie sang her slow song gave me time to think for the first time in this really rushed show. And while I listened to her sing, I was thinking, wow. It's over. No more talent shows for me, for us, this is the last song, (no pun intended), the last clap, the last DUCK SONG! And I remembered back at the beginning of 7th grade when Hannah found it.
*Flashback*
Hannah's talking as we walk in the hall.
(this is what comes from my memory, note that all words are not accurate, so no quotations will be inserted)
Dude, I found this song.
What is it?
It's about a duck, he asks a lemonade stand man for grapes.
Wow, could you GET any randomer??
I don't know, maybe.
How did you find this?
The power of youtube.
What did you search?
Duck.
Oh. . . . .wow. . . .
We went on to explain it in the lunch room where Hannah actually stood up and ran like she was running in the sand, (mind, this is before we had the lyrics right)
Then we got to the topic of the talent show and the Mysterious Ticking Noise was thrown around because we had like all just got done reading HP for the first time.
And Hannah suggested we should do the Duck Song for the talent show.
It went from there.
*Reflashback to the present*
So yeah, she was singing and it like hit me like, dude, it's over. NO MORE DUCK SONG!
We just kind of pretended to cry and hugged eachother. BUT GUYS! IT'S OVER!
I'm sad, I think. I'm not sure if it's a relief to be free of it or what. Or if it's like noooooooooo, no more talent of the shows.
Look at this list.
6th Grade
I rode a unicycle while eating an apple.
7th Grade
I did the duck song with Hannah
8th Grade
I did the Duck Song 1-3 with Hannah and Alexis
So my total for this year is
28 high fives
12.5 hugs
19 'got any grapes'
3 'just no's'
1 'you look like that girl who did the quack duck thing.'
. . . . . . . ..
WHAT????
How could you say I look like her?? I WAS HER YOU BIMBO!
I was all dressed from swimming and stuff I had my yellow shirt on, (dirty, by the way) and my orange towel wrapped around my head. And I walked out of the locker room and (oh and by the way, I DID have pants on) this girl follows me out (where a whole bunch of people had just said, oohhhh look at the duck, got any grapes, etc.) and I walk out and she looks at me, and says "You look like that girl who did the quack duck thing."
And I'm just to shocked she doesn't know it's me, that I just go "ok. . .?" And stare at her.
She smiles and says: You probably get that a lot, huh?
And then walks back into the locker room.
Like WHAT THE HECK!
I didn't know I was THAT unfamiliar! Sheesh. All I can do is stare confused and blankly at her as she walks away.
Soooo, whenever I have something else to post about something awesome, bye,
Delaney (One of the many dux)
