First Impressions

First Impressions are important, no matter how many times people say it and we brush it off, because it's one of those phrases that everyone hears but doesn't really HEAR. If yanno what I'm saying.
But anyways, I know in my own mind I have an idea of what I look like, it's what I look like before I go to school, with my hair made up and my clothes smoothed down. For some reason I think I look like that all day, and I never take in account for the day. I never remember that I will have to walk around and that my clothes won't be smoothed down, and that the wind and my hat on the walk to the bus stop will probably mess up my hair, and my cheeks will get red. And by the time I get to school I will look nothing like I did before I left my house.
I never seem to take that into account, and if I catch my reflection in some glass or a mirror in the bathroom, I stop, and just look at myself. "Have I looked like that all day?" I ask my self in mortification. But I realize no one cares, because I look like this all the time. This is how Delaney looks.
And that no one sees how I look when I think I look fine, because I always do something to mess it up before anyone gets the chance to see.
And if I walk into the store, no one knows me, so they don't know what I look like any other time, so to them it doesn't look weird, it looks like a normal person shopping.
So why try to look good even if you already know you could like a completely different person by the time you reach your final destination?
Because you still try to keep up that impression that you will still look good, because I think that's just how people are.
And that's stupid.
